Does anyone know of a hospital that does deep brain stimulation on children?

My friends 10 yr old son fell off a hayride and the wheel ran his head over. He was in a coma for 3 months and woke up to a minimal conscious state. She has located hospitals that do deep brain stimulation on adults but not children. Any other advice would help at all!

I would check the children’s hospital nearest you for a recommendation. They might not have the top specialist, but they will sure as heck know who is the top specialist for that area. So many of them will help subsidize housing for family even if it is not local to you. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia can recommend (they have a great pain specialist, but not what you need), St. Jude’s, Children’s Hospital of Boston, etc. I hope you find the answers quickly for the child.

She should contact the local Children’s Hospital near her. They ONLY take care of children. They are located in just about every major city.

Also check with St. Jude’s. http://www.stjude.org/
