I wouldn’t compare Jade Goody to Diana ever. The only thing they ever had in common was wanting the best lives for their sons.

One woman raised awareness of a deadly killer by having the illness, the other worked hard for other numerous charities that didn’t personally affect her life.

There is snobbery on both sides of the fence towards these women, but they are both gone now and should be left in peace.

Much as I dislike both women I do know that Lady Diana did a lot of good work for a number of causes including AIDS/HIV and landmines. Not because she was personally affected, but because she cared, which is more than can be said of Jade Goody.

Jade was OF the British people, she understood our moods, our aspirations. In 100 years Jade will still be remembered with many a fond tear, but will anyone remember that Spencer woman? – I doubt it.

Parkinson didnt have the guts to say that while Jade was alive. I find it just low to say anything like that about someone dead. Right or wrong what he said, why cant we just leave the dead alone? NotEckyBoy i find it very hard to believe jade goody understood anything, i certainly didn’t understand much she uttered. Diana wasn’t virtuous but compared to jade goody she seemed it. His comments were made about the exploitation of jade by the media he didn’t berate jade goody, just said some truthful words. sometimes the truth hurts.

The way I see it, Diana didn’t make me want to vomit. Granted, she was in the media a hell of a lot but at least she did some worthwhile charity work. What did Jade Goody do besides become famous for being stupid on reality tv?

People are treating her like she was some kind of martyr – I don’t wish death on anyone, it’s a shame she died so young, but the way people are acting like some kind of saint just died is ridiculous.

The Media are just twisting it, if you read what he said, he doesn’t actually attack Jade Goody like they make out, he was attacking the fact we’re idolising a woman who was no idol at all really or shouldn’t be and how sad it is that she is many people’s idol. She had a horrible life and we shouldn’t brush over that fact with celebrations. People should admire people who do good work. Not the shallow celebs we all know today, not that Jade was shallow, she wasn’t, she was just taken advantage of by the media and I think that’s what he was really getting at.

yes, you are quite right, and I am not taking anything away from Jade here, she was a remarkable person but is she the kind of person you want as a role model for our children? ignorant, badly educated – not her fault, but true. I think she is an example of how the normal londoner has been let down and forgotten by our government.
Lady Di had a full and no doubt very expensive education – but frankly she was a bit dim – the difference between them is the money they had available to them.
I think we are missing the point really, because there are thousands of Jades and no one fighting their corner.

First of all, it was hardly an outburst – Parky was simply and quite calmly stating what I believe the vast majority of thinking adults in this country feel about Jade Goody.

I dislike both, but why jade has been celebrated so much is baffling. What did she do other than get her bits out on big brother?

She was thick as two short planks, had little respect for anyone, possibly slightly racist, never did anything unless she was being paid for it, had little to no dignity and only raised awareness of cervical cancer by getting it & dying (not like that amazing selfless women who did all those charity runs to raise money for cancer research).

There was someone in the paper i read today suggested she get a posthumous honour from the queen! I meen really WTF for!

I dont think Jade or Diana were outstanding people, they both had their own issues… Didn’t Diana hava an eating disorder? Great role model she was for our teenage girls. And as for her charity work… she didnt have to juggle 2 jobs & worry about paying her mortgage did she. I’m sure if you asked the girl at your local chippy whether she’d prefer her job or Diana’s, we all know what she’d say but we dont all get that opportunity!!!

I kinda agreed with Parky cos last time i heard, Jade was a racist.. not sure how that makes someone an icon but thats the great british public for ya… I find it hilarious that when Jade, members of the royal family or anyone in the public eye make racial comments; we are told to forget about it by people who are not black/asian/other.

Both woman used the tabloids and media for there own gains. if anyone deserves to be sainted it would be mother Theresa of Calcutta, she died the same week as Diana, and with only the clothes on her back. FACT

Di and Jade both did a lot of work for charity, only Jades wasn’t given the media attention that Di’s was….as much respect for Diana that I may have virtuous is hardly a word that can be used to describe her, she had a string of affairs, which is something Jade didn’t do,

Ultimately though both Jade and Di are 2 women who raised awareness and changed the world we live in, the awareness Diana raised for AIDS, Landmines etc and of course the huge awareness Jade has raised for Cervical Cancer.

Unlike Jade Diana always conducted herself with dignity and respect, but then again the life she had and the upbringing she had couldn’t be further from Jades, both of these women should be remembered and respected for the good they’ve done, and the one thing they both shared in common, they were both wonderful mothers!

Goody was as thick as pig shít! She’d had done sod all for cervical cancer if the tramp hadn’t had got it herself!

Nobody is perfect but if it weren’t for cancer Jade would’ve just faded into the background while Princess Diana would have kept working for charities and helping the world be a better place for those who need the help.

Jade Goody only did anything of value when it personally affected her and that was to raise awareness of cervical cancer. Diana did so much for charities and not because it was required but because she could.

Both Diana and Jade did good things in their life time. I think it’s wrong to compare two very different people from two very different walks of life.

As for Michael Parkinson, I think his outburst was disgusting and to use the words he did to describe Jade, such as "ignorant", so close after her death doesn’t say much about him as a person. It was tasteless and cruel. What an idiot.
